Fridays a good day for some good old fashioned hard work!

Firstly, twas a lovely day today, I spent it with Miss Charlotte Pain, getting back into the swing of things, and we have got some interesting ideas between us that will surely make this year very interesting. I also thought I would blog the fruits of my labour from todays workshop. I decided not to do a large version of my mythological orchestra (as there is just not a lot of space right now in the studio!), but instead create a large charcoal drawing of one of my previous drawings. I was chatting to Mr Tim and he threw a really interesting idea into the mix relating to this drawing. I was ummm'ing and ahhh'ing about what setting to base these figures, and Tim said it reminded him of a couple at a restaurant, and the octopus was a waiter. So it was decide there an then that this was going to be the setting as it really marries well to the whole ambiance of the scene. I did struggle a little today as i'm still finding it difficult to sort out the anatomy of the figures, but Tezza was on hand to offer some really worthwhile advice. He said I should start to create these figures/busts/mannequins out of clay, and this would force me to think in a three-dimensinal way, which i could then utilise when it comes to create the feel of three-dimension within a two-dimensional image (tone, light/dark/colour space ect ect). I am quite looking forward to playing with clay again! Who knows this might be a new avenue I could take my work down? I could also start creating multiple clay figures, which I could then create scenes with, which seems very childlike I know, but fun, and potentially very inspirational never the less! Im really looking forward to getting some paint onto canvas again also as it has been just to long, months in fact. I have some wooden frames all ready made, just in need of a little canvas and a prime and then its all cannons a fire! Im gonna leave this blog there as I haven't much else to report on, I hope people like the drawing and ideas, would love comments as always! Check back soon!
